How long is too long?
How long will it take,
until I lose my mind?
The isolation, the loneliness,
wear on me,
like the sands of this desert,
tearing me apart.
Outcast, ostracized
from my own kind.
Once part of a mighty choir,
now a lonely solo
that no one hears.
My wings are tattered
from the earthly winds,
rough and grabbing,
not like the winds back home.
I miss the gentle caress
fanning my wings
under a loving sun.
The sun here is harsh,
burning my skin.
I long for the company
of familiar faces,
of familiar voices.
Here, I am utterly alone,
bereft of any comfort.
It's been eons.
Is that not long enough?
I beg of you,
may I please come home now?
This was inspired by :iconmanifestedsoul:'s work, May I Come Home Now.
Something about it touched me, so I wrote this for it.
